Menswear is a Tumblr-generated machine that started a few years back and his dissipated a bit. originally, it was a weird deification and aping of some distorted version of Italian/Neapolitan sprezzatura dressing and all the trappings that made suiting a casual thing: functional button cuffs pulled back, irreverent accessories like multiple bracelets and lapel flowers, brighter colors, unstructured jackets, loafers, visible ankles, very trim silhouettes. it sort of fed on itself and kind of moved from Italy to the homunculus internet version to the streets of New York back to the internet, and then the internet invaded Pitti Uomo and you have what you see today. 

There's a lot to like about the term "menswear stuff" (i mean, really, who dislikes the garish and aggressive italian taste when taken of itself? it's a whole of a lot of fun) and there's no doubt some of its features have infected other parts of the internet fashion scene but restraint has never figured very highly with its internet practitioners and so you usually end up with something that looks like the florentine god of sprezz got sick all over a young man with a well trimmed beard and small, round sunglasses because he couldn't figure out which element of nonchalance he wanted to present so he just grabbed them all.

The complexity is compounded by the fact that once the Real World caught wind of this Hot New Trend, a weaker, blurry-edged version of it came up, and, as we all know, pale imitations of aggressive imitations rarely end up being worthwhile; in this case, run of the mill dandyism with a lot of the interestingly aggressive elements left out and more of a brociety of bright colors and too-tight clothes left in its stead!

In summary, it's what fits the man and his desire for the style at the time and it changes as the times change and as the man does !
